Collection: Castor Oil

What is Castor Oil?

Castor oil is a thick vegetable oil extracted from the beans of the castor plant whose botanical name is Ricinus communis. Earliest uses of castor oil date back to ancient Egypt where it was used for various medicinal purposes and also as a fuel.

Today, castor oil is still used in a number of industrial and medicinal applications, but the most important application by far is its long and trusted reputation as powerful moisturizer and natural hair and scalp treatment.

These applications are a direct result of the high content of ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid known for its moisturizing, antioxidant properties and its unrivalled reputation of being one of nature’s most powerful lubricant.

At Natural Oils Plus, we specialize in supplying four types of castor oil differentiated by the source of the castor beans and/or the method by which the oil is extracted from the beans.

Our four types of castor oil are:
1. Castor Oil - Cold Pressed - (Hexane Free)
2. Haitian Black Castor Oil - (Palma Christi)
3. Jamaican Black Castor Oil, JBCO - (Original)
4. Jamaican Black Castor Oil, JBCO - (Extra Dark)

All four types of our castor oils are for external use only.
